Gin choices at The Lamb
With the rise of independent Gin distilleries across the UK, but particularly in the South of England and Sussex, our customers are looking for new and exciting options to try.
Already boasting a full gin shelf with a number of unique choices including Tom Cat Cloudy Mango or Blueberry, Chilgrove (Bramble and Original), Jarrolds, Brighton and Silentpool, we put it to our customers to suggest new additions.
So at the beginning of August we posed a question on our social media channels….. suggest a great gin for us to introduce at the Lamb. The response was incredible! It seems everyone loves their unique (and often local) gin. We had votes for many including Bathtub, Cannonball and Foxhole…. all of which we will try and introduce in the coming months. For the time being, though, we could not ignore the wonderful taste and quality of Slake Gin, distilled a few miles East in Shoreham by Sea.

A Boutique Sussex Hotel with a Rich History
Our family took on The Lamb in 2011 when, after a number of months of closure it was looking a little sorry for itself.
It had been put up for sale by its then owners, Punch Taverns resulting in an empty building, boarded up windows, and a pretty long list of repairs, all of which served as a reminder to villagers that they faced losing their local, until the we, The Newbons fell in love with The Lamb, and decided to take a chance.
We were the first private owners for 125 years, so we set about a complete refurbishment opening our boutique Sussex hotel and gastropub to the public in April 2012. We have continued to improve and expand our wonderful building which dates back to 1780, and is Grade 2 listed. Back then, it was no bigger than a Georgian dwelling, including a bar and no more than a couple of rooms to let.
In renovations that spanned 6 years, we increased the number of bedrooms to eight, the addition of a beautiful garden terrace, and an expansion of the bar. With the invaluable help of General Manager Liam, Executive Chef Richard, and the skilled team they head up, our family are so proud to continue to improve this historic establishment.
Perfectly placed in a beautiful village, our Grade 2 listed building is the perfect place from which to explore the captivating county of Sussex. The Lamb at Angmering offers luxury boutique accommodation in West Sussex, blending both style and comfort. This, along with attentive service from our team and our wonderful restaurant, makes for an enchanting stay every time.
But we will never forget the rich history of our building. Each of our rooms are named after a previous landlord, to pay homage to the people who have ensured this pub’s place not only in Angmering’s history, but in part to it’s future, too. Each of our room pages tell you a little bit about their namesake.

The Lamb – A Cosy Winter Hotel, perfect for romantic getaways
The Lamb, nestled between the South Downs and the sea, is a perfect place to get away from it all at any time of year, but as a cosy winter hotel we really hit the mark!
Our rooms, each featuring the name of a landlord in times gone by, are part of our warm and inviting gastropub, featuring an open fire in the bar area and log burner in the restaurant. In such a welcoming environment, it isn’t a surprise that our rooms each feature special touches that make it a home from home. Luxurious bedding and soft furnishings, wonderful bathrooms and coffee machines in each.
Priding ourselves on making our establishment cosy and welcoming to visitors from our village and those who have come from further afield, there is always a friendly face to greet you on arrival at The Lamb. We are happy to share with you a little history of our wonderful pub, or help you find the best walks and places to visit in the area. Angmering is spoilt to be so close to not only the Sussex coast, with its wonderful seafront walks and cafes, but also the endless rolling hills of the Downs.
Historic towns of Arundel and Chichester are just a stones throw away and have some wonderful things to see and do.
So if you are looking for that perfect, cosy winter hotel for a romantic break or trip to the countryside, we would be happy to welcome you at The Lamb.
