Highlights from our Wine List
We stock plenty of wine in Sussex at The Lamb
An extensive wine list is something we pride ourselves on at The Lamb, and we certainly don’t take the selection lightly. Finding wines to compliment our ever changing menu is a labour of love, and we like to think we’ve got a variety that accurately reflects a wide range of tastes. Here are some highlights from our current crop of wine in Sussex…
Laurent-Perrier Rosé
A salmon pink Champagne from France, with depth, freshness, and crisp aromas of strawberries, red currants, raspberries and black cherries. Expect fine bubbles and a persistent mousse.
Picpoul de Pinet Beauvignac
Elegant and floral, this golden white wine is perfect with seafood, such as our pan fried sea bass or monkfish.
Zinfandel Blush
A rosé aromas of red currants and orange zest, followed by a creamy medium-dry palate showing a nice balance of sweetness
Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Deep crimson colour with a bouquet of dark berries and spices. It is smooth and persistent with aromatic fullness

The Sussex Cheeses That Make our Cheeseboards so Special
The Cheese Man in Hove helps make our cheeseboards delicious at our restaurant in West Sussex
As you may already know, local ingredients are a big part of our ethos at our restaurant in West Sussex, and that extends to every corner of our menu – including the cheeseboard on our dessert selection. We’re lucky enough to have a tried and trusted supplier of not only quality cheese, but cheese found locally, just a few miles away in Shoreham, in the shape of The Cheese Man.
The Cheese Man is a company with over 50 years experience in the food industry, and deliver a wide range of cheeses, charcuterie and gourmet products to businesses across Sussex in their fleet of specialist vans. One of the things we’re always excited to place emphasis on is that our cheeseboard features cheeses made right here in Sussex and the surrounding areas. They each have a unique flavour, so we’ve detailed each one below…
Brighton Blue – Made by High Weald Dairy, this is a mild, semi-soft cows milk cheese with a mellow blue flavour and a slightly salty finish.
Golden Cross Goats Cheese – Made by a family business based in East Sussex, Golden Cross is a soft, log shaped goats cheese. When young, the texture is firm and grainy, whereas as it matures, it becomes more like ice cream in texture.
Olde Sussex – This full bodied cheddar is made using a traditional recipe by The Traditional Cheese Company in East Sussex, and has an ‘open, bouncy texture’.
Tunworth Soft – Made just across the county border by Hampshire Cheeses, Tunworth Soft is a handmade British Camembert; soft, white, rindless and very much reminiscent of it’s French cousin.
You’ll find our cheeseboard on our a la carte dessert menu as the perfect way to finish off your meal. See our entire menu here.

How Our Team Make Us One of the Best Places to Eat in West Sussex
Ultimately, it’s our team that make us one of the best places to eat in West Sussex
We put a lot of emphasis on our beautiful building, stunning location, and the fine ingredients we use to craft our food; but ultimately, it’s the Lamb team that make our pub one of the best places to eat in West Sussex. Being a family business, we know the importance of community, and how we fit into the village we’re lucky enough to live in.
The Lamb family, however, extends beyond the Newbons; our general manager Liam has become and instrumental part of the pub’s success, and our head chef Liam has really put us on the map for places to eat in West Sussex. His creativity with food keeps our menu fresh and interesting, and we’re constantly wowed by his ability to dream up new dishes. Our front of house staff are the friendly faces that provide a warm welcome to everyone who walks through the doors; whether they’ve come in for a quick pint, a romantic meal, or to stay the night in one of our charming rooms.
We’re so proud of the people that make The Lamb special, and if you’ve not yet met them, come and say hello; why not try something tasty from our menu while you’re at it…

Why We’re Proud to be a Free House in Sussex
Being a free house in Sussex means we can give a world of choice to our customers
First of all, let us explain by what we mean when we say we’re a free house in Sussex; we’re a pub that’s not owned or controlled by a brewery. If you’re familiar with the recent history of The Lamb, you’ll know that it’s our family that own and run it. This freedom is instrumental to the success of our bar, because it means there’s always plenty of choice to offer our customers.
Sussex is blessed with a great many breweries based in all corners of our beautiful county, so we’re always switching up our lineup with tasty brews from these local suppliers. Harveys, for example, is a brewery based in Lewes, East Sussex, who provide pubs like ours with their traditional cask ales – and they’re always very popular!
It’s not just beers that we have an excellent selection of – it’s wines too. e thoroughly enjoy the freedom we have to talk to outstanding wine merchants, in order to create the list we have today of diverse choices that suit all budgets, with no compromise made on quality. Our list includes great value for money, a regularly updated selection of wines, and plenty of explanation surrounding them.
Our vast choice of drinks is a reflection on our status as a free house in Sussex, and we couldn’t be prouder to pleasantly surprise our customers with beers and wines they’ve not yet tried. Why not pop in and see what’s on at the moment?
